Yesterday I recorded a new demo with my trio. More news will follow of coarse. Naturally I am very proud and therefore I invite you all to listen to it. I am still working on a nice way to embed it into my webpage (probably with xspf player) but till that time you can listen to the tracks at MySpace. I just discovered that no matter which language I try to speak, you still can clearly tell that The Hague is my home town. Well, so be it! Here a little example of this phenomenon, recorded with Alice in Dixieland live in Rimini, Italy...
The Television Broadcast of 'Cor achter de Dijken'

The fanfare, of music association Kunst & Vriendschap in Zoetermeer has it's own education. Kids can join already very young to playfully learn about music. After one or two years they choose an instrument. If they choose to play a brass instrument, they get lessons from me. There are other teachers for the woodwinds and for the percussion. When the student finishes the first book , he or she gets to join the learning orchestra and when they pass their 'B-exam' they are allowed to join the fanfare.
Last Saturday it was presentation day: all pupils perform in groups for parents, friends and music fans. This picture shows just one of the seven little groups that I formed for the day. More photos are to be found on my Flickr page.
P.S. The name 'Kunst en Vriendschap' means 'Art and Friendship'

Actually I am way to busy to write a lot about Singapore. Let's just say we had a wonderful time, played some really great concerts, saw a lot of the country/city and ate the most incredibly nice food.. I certainly do hope to come back for more concerts. Till that time I shall try to hold on to the vibe with some recipes from the cooking books I bought there. (Do they actually eat sea horses there??!)

Eva Novoa is our new piano player in Alice in Dixieland. And we are so happy with her! The picture was taken on our rehearsal yesterday. Teddy and Eva were working on the verse of Who's Sorry now. After rehearsal we had a long talk about repertoire. I think we all have a whole lot of nice ideas. New arrangements will be made, old ones thrown away.. A fresh start.. YEAH! Welcome, Eva!
There are plans for a new educational jazz combo in Bergschenhoek! Starting October 31st, there will be a rehearsal every second week on Wednesday from 20.15h till 21.15h. More information will follow. Those who are interested in joining, please contact me.
