Jazz ensemble zoekt deelnemers

Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers

Voorbeelden hiervan zijn Moanin’, The Blues March, I Remember Clifford en Whisper Not.

Lecture Brazil

lezing Fortaleza

Not so long ago I gave a lecture about the musical exchange program I had been participating in in Fortaleza, Brazil. We made music with the local youth and looked at several development programs in the area.

On this picture you see me pointing out the exact location of Fortaleza on the map (look at the shadowfinger).

Vincent Renaudineau

Vincent Renaudineau

Suddenly realized: I have a more recent picture of Vincent on my account. When I was in Paris last summer I couldn't leave without drinking a little wine with him..

Dublin

In 2005 I have been to Ireland as a special guest. Playing a Clifford Brown tribute in the Boom Boom Room and sitting in with several bands. Especially the collaboration with Greg Felton (he's the guy on the first picture) was a huge pleasure. This year I have been invited to come over again to celebrate the lustrum of Jazz on the Terrace, an Allen Smith initiative.
And the good news is that I can bring a trombone player. I didn't have to think about that too long: Vincent Renaudineau will be joining me. He is a great player and a good friend. I have known him since my high school years as the picture below shows. It was taken on a birthday party of mine long long long ago. Vincent is the guy sitting on the couch, on the right. The other people are Jeen (left), Marijn (lying down), Anja (middle), and Jeffrey (ultimate right).
I am sure Vincent and I will be having a ball in Dublin. Probably giving some brass/ section workshops, playing some nice arrangements, eating garlic soup and listening to Maynard Ferguson... And - who knows - have a drink or two :)

CD presentation 'Jong KC'

To celebrate the fact that the department for talented young people exists 50 years, the Royal Conservatory organises a range of special activities. One of those is the recording of a CD featuring the current jazz students, playing together with former students.

I have the honour to be invited as a guest soloist on two tracks of this CD. The official presentation will be January 23rd in the Kees van Baarenzaal of the Conservatory. Juliana van Stolberglaan 1, The Hague.
