Several other logs and photo pages about Brazil
I made up a quick page in which I included several other logs by band members. You can find it right hereNice picture...
Actually I still have a lot of posting to do about the Brazil project. Things have been so impressive, I do need some time to take distance in order to write something proper about it. In the meanwhile I post this very artisticly taken photograph of me, taken by Geneviève Ruocco.Friday, June 09, 2006

painting the studio
Monday we painted the studio. Not only was it fun to do (teambuilding) but the result was really colourful.Today we visited a project of another development organisation in the area. They had a samba percussion school for kids between 13 and 18. First we played a few songs, then they played. Very loud but nice to see and hear. Afterwards there was oppurtunity to evaluate together and ask questions.

the first gigs
Last couple of days we had our first gigs beginning with something that you might call a bit of a showcase. We played a set at one of the more chique restaurants in Fortaleza and had some club owners listening to us. As a result from this we played in one of the hippest clubs around: Orbita. The picture here is taken there..One day before the clubgig we had a wedding gig in Palmeira; the area the project is about. What an atmosphere! Although people don´t have a lot of money they have a good party attitude. There was food and drinks for everyone and everybody was having fun. After playing we had quite a few photo shoots with the young kids
Brazil is not only about playing; in order to have a group operating properly as a group you must also have fun on another level. For that reason we made a little trip to Guanamiranga. Nature is one of the best ways to have people communicate. And communicating we did: a guy from the dutch broadcast organisation Llink is following us coming two weeks and decided this would make for an excellent oppurtunity to interview us. Directly afterwards the video interview for the documentary took place. Interview time!!
